Every sending domain has a region.
The region controls where Signal handles that domain’s sending path.
Available regions
Default behavior
For projects without multi-region domain capability, new domains use the project’s region.
The dashboard shows that region as locked and offers an upgrade path where multi-region is available.
When the capability is enabled, choose a supported region while adding the domain.
Choose the region closest to the main recipient population while accounting for your data-location requirements.
You cannot change the domain region after adding the domain.
A different region requires a new domain registration and a controlled sender migration.
Migration approach
- Add the replacement sending domain in the target region.
- Publish and verify all authentication records.
- Configure tracking and BIMI where required.
- Update one controlled caller or traffic slice.
- Compare delivery and webhook behavior.
- Move remaining From addresses.
- Delete the old domain only after no callers use it.
Region is not inbox placement
A closer sending region can reduce service latency.
It does not replace domain reputation, recipient consent, content quality, authentication, or mailbox-provider policy.
